Moore's Law
Gordon E. Moore, the co-founder of Intel Corporation, made an observation that the number of transistors in a chip/ IC will double every two years. This is popularly known as the Moore's law. The computer chips over the years have evolved from a single transistor to about 731 million transistors in Intel I7 chip as of 2007 and growing. The table beside shows the key Intel's chip designation, the year of release and the number of transistors.
